Chapter Five

To read Chapter Four:

Lisa looked at Tim as he approached and noticed the tension in his facial expression. She was worried about him as she knew his weakness and was worried that he would fall into temptation.

"Hi hun, how are you holding up." Lisa said trying her best to hide her worries. "Peggy already told me."

"What did she tell you?" Tim said wondering about Peggy and Bill. "There is a lot we need to talk about."

"She told me about the boatyard what else is there?" Lisa said now completely confused.

"Bill is going to leave Peggy Lisa. He is going to Costa Rica without her at least he was this morning." Tim said turning to see T.J. running towards him.

"Daddy come push me on the swing." T.J. said smiling.

"Not right now hun its almost supper time and your daddy needs to get cleaned up. You too kid get in their and wash your hands and face." Lisa said glancing al Tim apprehensively.

Tim looked at his son and said "Listen to your mom and later we will play some games OK."

"OK dad can we play Chutes." T.J. said bouncing with excitement.

"Sure thing champ you do like your mom said and get ready for dinner" Tim said patting the boy on the back as he passed by.

Lisa looked at Tim with tears in her eyes and said. "Tim tell me everything will be OK."

"We will get through this Lisa I swear!" Tim whispered burying Lisa in his huge bear like hug.

Tim was in the shower when Lisa came in the bedroom. Tim had left his work clothes on the floor and Lisa was getting the clothes ready for laundry. In the front pocket she found a business card the name shocked her "Paul Monroe Sales Manager".

It couldn't be, Paul Monroe was Tim's pal from ages ago. Paully and Tim partied together and usually also got in trouble at the same time. Since Tim had cleaned up she did not think Paully would ever be a part of their lives again but yet here was his card in her husbands pocket.

Her mind was racing her heart was pounding how was she supposed to ask Tim about this, had he already been with Paully? Had he already indulged his addiction? Maybe it was innocent and Tim had just ran into him accidently. Bill was leaving Peggy is that what Tim said? Did that have anything to do with Paully? Lisa was having a very stressful day.

Tim came downstairs after putting TJ to bed. He saw Lisa on the couch with her face buried in her hands crying.

"Lisa, Hun." Tim said apprehensively taking a seat on the couch beside her. "Lisa what's wrong."

"What is not wrong Tim. My best friend is going to be abandoned by your best friend. My family is coming over in a few weeks for TJ's party and I do not know if we will have enough money to throw him a party. How are we going to cover all the bills Tim. Unemployment is going to give you half of what you usually earn. I still have classes to finish. Oh Tim what is going to happen?" Lisa said burying her face into Tim's shoulder.

"All I can tell you Lisa is that I am going to do the best that I can, I will find work its not like I don't have plenty of experience and good references.  Tim said

"Tim,  I need to ask you a question" Lisa said pulling Paully's card out of her pocket. "Tim when did you see Paully?"

Tim looked at the card realizing what had Lisa so upset.  "I ran into him at Charlie's.  I just stopped there to gather my thoughts before I came home.  Lisa I did not touch a drop I swear."

"What does Paully want why do you have his card?  He is not going to be coming around is he?" Lisa said concerned.

"Paully offered me a job selling cars Lisa." Tim said "I took the card to be polite could you see me selling cars."

Lisa looked up into Tim's eyes and knew he was telling the truth.  "Tim you could do anything you wanted and I think you would look in a shirt and tie." She said giggling "Just promise me that you are not going to fall in with Paully's crowd again."

"I will never do anything that will compromise my family Lisa.  I do not want to wear a shirt and tie every day either so if I was you I would not worry about it." Tim said smiling. "Besides Bill told me about a job in Portsmouth Rhode Island at a boatyard that could be perfect for me."

"Portsmouth is hours away from here Tim we would have to move." Lisa said seeming a little concerned.

"Bill told me, well he didn't tell me he asked me." Tim said not sure how to word it "Bill wants me to refinance the condo without him on the loan Lisa."

"So we might have to move for real?" she said.

"I don't know Lisa.  I hope not but I will do whatever it takes to take care of you and TJ." Tim said.

"I would rather quit my classes and go to work before we have to move Tim.  Please no matter what I do not want to leave my home Tim Please." Lisa begged.

Tim turned to look out the window. Tears had begun to form in his eyes.
