The Night Bird

The Night Bird

Though shades of night may settle,
yet, the night bird sings...
its notes so crisp and joyful,
into the dark it rings.
The shadow and the valley
does echo forth its song,
a gentle, sweet reminder...
of hope for sorrow's throng.
The golden birth of sunlight
does follow midnight trails...
Joy cometh in the morning
to shed the night's travails.
The night bird sings a hopeful tune
to comfort and cajole
the weary and the burdened,
to embrace and to console.
So when the shades of night come
if you listen for its ring...
the night bird will bring solace
to the ear that hears it sing.

weed, thank you, my friend. I stood on the balcony last night and heard the night bird sing, for real, and in the middle of my emotional windstorm today, this came..."Joy cometh in the morning...." I'm hanging on to that! I appreciate your support!

Stunning! I love poems about birds - probably because of Caged Bird by Maya Angelou, but this is very unique, serene and lovely!
