The Set Up

Updated on December 25, 2014

Would you like to write a short story about being set up? asked momster...

At first I thought that momster was asking this question as part of a contest in HubPages, until I sat down more exhausted than I began putting all the pieces together. I will proceed to inform you of my story.

It was a rainy day, actually it was raining for three days. The humidity, the fog and the water was giving an uncomfortable sensation. I had to get out of the house. I said to my husband: "Dear please, let's go for a ride. I am getting exhausted inside the house". He was feeling the same sensations so no persuasive words were needed.

Everywhere we went the feeling seemed to follow us. My husband extended his arm and pulled me toward him as he drove. The traffic was heavy and the windshield needed constantly to be defogged. The silence between us became a long deep conversation which we haven't had for a long period of time. The coziness of the protection that his arms gave made me fall asleep.

The Yunque

My body was asking for that sleep a long time ago. I fell into a deep dream, until the movements of the car woke me up. My neck was hurt by being in the wrong position. As I rubbed my neck, I realized that my husband wasn't the driver anymore.

The deepest scream from my innards flourished seconded by my loss of consciousness. I don't have a clue of how long I passed out, the thing is that I was alone inside the car with nobody around.

"Oh my...oh my..." Was the only words I could pronounce with a stutter. My head became like the hands of a clock, turning all around the place figuring where was my husband and I. I came to recognize where I me, nobody would ever find me there alone.

I was without my husband in the Yunque,a mountain rain forest with waterfalls, many different tall trees and all kind of plants...sounds of creatures became echoes from who knows where. We love this place, but together...not alone. I was without the knowledge of where he was.

An animal...very strange...

What was happening?

My cellular was unsuccessful since the signal is poor, but I kept trying to call any contact on my list. The rain had stopped and the sun was going down. The beats of my heart were louder than any sound I was hearing.

I thought I was in a nightmare but it was real. I hit my face various times hoping I would get up from my bed. I couldn't start the car because the key was missing...where to dear husband was missing also. If I started to run I had no idea if I was leaving him in danger.

Do you know what it is to have a dozen ideas but none of them could be done? Do you know what it is being trapped in a place that you know where it is but the exact location is not defined?

My life was perhaps in danger and I was unmoving. No answer for my questions. No path to follow. Through my mind started to arise images of my children, my parents, my family and my husband. Emotions steered all around my body letting me know that I was alive.

I started to go down the hill to see if I could reach someone, or find out that my husband was distracted and there was a reason for the whole situation. As I walked, I spotted something from the looked like a body...I ran toward it as tears rolled down wetting my face as if it needed to be washed. I couldn't identify the body but it was an animal...very strange...killed? Natural death? I could not understand what was happening.

I was alive!

All I did know was that I was alive!!! I lifted my eyes to the sky and gave thanks to our Lord...I was alive and my family was waiting for me. I was alive and I had to find my husband that who knows if he was needing my help.

I went back to my car. Someway, somehow, or someone would find me. I stayed still and knew that God is God.

Thanks to our Lord!

Fiction from the Yunque by Greg Boudonck

Would you like to write a short story about being set up? asked momster...

At first I thought that momster was asking this question as part of a contest in HubPages, until I sat down more exhausted than I began putting all the pieces together. I will proceed to inform you of my story.

My husband knew about the contest and set me up for me to write this hub.

I hope you liked my fiction story.. A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact.

Elements in a fiction story

Every writer has a style; their own way of imagining and narrating. We all have special talents and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We are unique in the way we do things. Our motivations guide us to produce in the measure we perform.

That being said I will add that definitions are already established. Things are assigned with names. Rules are accepted to identify, clarify and differentiate one thing from others. A fiction story is a story where the following elements are said to be found.

  • Beginning
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Falling Action

Dare to write

Dare to write your feelings, experiences, observations, and thoughts. It is an incredible exercise. Writers write by different desires. We live where diversity is arising and original production is being felt.

Blessings to all as we let our own talents grow!
