The Things That Go Bump Throughout The Night
Drip, Drop I wish that darn tap would stop
Tick-damn-tock, was it I that bought that loud sounding clock?
Getting up and making steps to end those torturous sounds
A thud was heard, and I thought, there must be someone around!
I checked the doors, the windows, and heard another sound
Louder still, and seemingly, coming from overhead
There was just no way in telling if the rooftop had any critters
But, let me tell you, my stomach was tied up in knots and in began I with the jitters
The jitters, the thuds, and now, another more, creepy, scratching noise
My senses fully alert, and, the hairs on the back of my neck seemed to be growing
A scratch, tap, bing, bang, clickety-clack, something was indeed indicating
A reason to be alarmed, must I venture out into the dark, cold night? Knowing...
There are creatures out there
I’ve been told beware
Scratch, shrilling screechy sound, was that a door?
Do I dare check it out? I just don’t know anymore!
Is my mind playing tricks?
Did I really hear something up there?
Oh, no! It’s really the door! It’s open, and, no-one seems to care
Quickly, I glance around thinking, the neighbours are out of town, where’s the phone? I’m all alone
