There Is a Wish I Care to Make
There is a wish I care to make,
Standing here the tears I unduly cry,
Add to the neglected dreams of those who came before,
But I will not hesitate.
For all my life I have longed for more.
I live in vague optimism that this shiny coin I gleefully eye,
Once disregarded in this medley of hope.
Will answer all my weary prayers.
So this sadness will no longer make my words choke.
There is a wish I care to make,
You see its rather simple really,
Here in lies that relentless theory.
I cannot make another mistake.
This wish must be granted so my heart will no longer ache.
Is it selfishness to take this opportunity,
And to only look upon myself in pity.
I close my eyes tight,
Feeling deep within till I can no longer fight.
Raw emotion engulfs this desire,
That it be granted I find true love in this world of fire.
It burns and devours,
Yet I will not succumb to its blackened powers.
There is a wish I care to make,
That as long as I have you,
I will never see a cold day,
Nor see the shadows of the sun take my smile away.
That each tempered kiss,
Will forge an undying embrace,
That our love will last lifetimes,
No matter what we care to face.
So now I will set this worthless coin loose,
With fantasies of seeing a precious dream come true.
