Understand - The 12th Good Word in the Good Words Project (Poem)

Updated on June 15, 2020

The 12th Good Word in the Good Words Project.

The 12th word in the series of "Good Words' given by a fellow Hubber - I pledge to write a poem for each good word she gives us each week. --- Thanks to Jo_Goldsmith's "Good Words" project.

Each week Jo Goldsmith gave us a word,

That her fellow Hubbers should learn and Understand

Not just it's meaning but to live by that word was her plan

Also help us grow as writers, humans and friends.

Understand - The 12th Good Word - In the Good Words Project.

Understand!

© by Shyron Shenko 4/17/2014

To understand is knowledge

Of the how, the why, the way

That we should live our lives

Each and every day

To understand is to know

When we see a grieving heart

We must seek to find a way

To help the healing start

When we understand

Just what went wrong?

It's that understanding

That will help to make us strong

We need to understand

What gives us strength?

So we can stand alone

And face our trials and tribulations ....on our own

Understand - Jeremy Camp

Now that more time has passed, things do not seem any clearer than when I last commented. There are lots of investigations going on, though none that are bipartisan on the 'Insurrection.' While there have been investigations of the Insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021, none included what actually caused it. Maybe I should say 'who' actually caused it. Nancy is determined to bring that out even if the investigation she champions is not bipartisan.

Republicans want to pretend there was no insurrection because it was their supporters who were in on it. They used flagpoles with Trump flags attached to beat police. 140 cops were hospitalized and some are just now leaving the hospital. One cop lost an eye that some Trump supporter literally squeezed out of his eye socket. Such lovely people who support Mr. Trump . . . 5 people died, but Republicans are now saying the rioters were well behaved, had no weapons, and couldn't be identified from ordinary tourists that day. In fact dozens of guns and homemade bombs were collected from the bunch as well as other weapons.

I wonder if the mess will ever be resolved and if those that planned and organized and encouraged it will ever be held accountable. I'll be shocked if that happens.

I fail to understand the complete reversal of the Republicans compared to what they said during and after the Insurrection.

Hope all is well with you, dear friend. Blessings . . .

Can't say that I understand why Trump continues to be a problem. Don't 'understand' why Republicans continue (as described in reports) to go to meet with Trump in order to" kiss his ring." I suspect they're kissing something else, plenty of things to choose from even if they may be difficult to access due to no tweezers or pepper available. Trump lost his job by nearly 8 million votes, and that's a lot. I should think it was a fairly serious indication that most voters don't like him. Republicans continuing to kiss Trump's tenders are only pleasing the small 26% who follow him no matter what. They are offending the the 74% who don't worship Trump.

Maybe things will get clearer as time passes. Posting this on Ah & FB.

Hope you will stay safe and that you and both your Walters will be blessed with good health and all good things.

Can't believe I've been away from this excellent article for so long! And this country was in an unbelievable nightmare way back then!! And Republicans did nothing but enable the monster even 2 years ago.

Look where we are now, with more and more crimes stacking up and the post-office being dismantled.

I just hope everyone turns out to vote and that our votes count -- that Putin won't reinstall the monster.

Our Intelligence Departments said nearly 4 years ago that Russia interfered in our election even to actually changing some people's votes in those states they keep railing about that Hillary failed to visit before the election -- Michigan, Wisconsin, PA., etc. Even though people must hear how our Intelligence Agencies know and report Russia's interference, no one seems to pay any attention -- and nothing has been done, by Trump's order, to prevent it from happening again! It's as if people hear, yet don't hear, what Russia did. My worry is that due to nothing being done it may happen again. If it does, it won't matter how many people vote. Even so, we must all do what we can (vote) to try to make changes.

I can't believe that this horrible nightmare has been allowed to continue and not a soul has tried to stop it. Given the terrible things Trump has done and continues to do, why must we vote him out? Why hasn't he been removed months ago?

If Trump really did shoot and kill someone on 5th Avenue in New York City, would he be allowed to continue shooting people at will with no consequences until he came up for election again, and then hope to defeat him so he would stop shooting? Seems he would.

I do not 'understand' why this charade of a presidency has been allowed to continue for so long, and that the only remedy is voting him out. Will that even be possible if Putin interferes again?

Posting this to AH & FB.

Hope you are staying well and safe. Blessings, dear friend . . .

Au fait, thank you I truly appreciate the comments and compliments.

Things we lost, like integrity and respect from other countries will never be regained at least not in my life time.

Things will never be right again.

Hope you are well, Blessings and Hugs.

There are a lot more things in this world and this country that are harder to understand than the last time I commented on this excellent poem. Will there be anything left when this nightmare is over?

Hope all is well with you. Take care . . .

Excellent words to think about. Understanding what went right is also important so that we can hopefully repeat that occurrence.

There are many things that it would seem to be beyond understanding in this world. Will that change in the next one? I wonder . . .

Hope you and John and Chipper are as well and content as possible. Blessings dear friend. Take care . . .

The Stages of Me, thank you so much for the compliment and comments.

Yes, I agree a lot of people misconstrue other people's understanding actions or take in a different context. But what is important is our understanding of our own intent.

      Blessings to you.

Beautifully true, so important to understand the hearts of others. Such a simple task and yet so many of us fail to see the heart behind the actions of others. People often act according to the joy or pain in their heart, and often the action is misconstrued. Beautiful, simple words on understanding here. Have a blessed day :)

      Hi Shyron,

I really loved your second stanza there about understanding when we see a grieving heart and then doing something about it. So beautiful. As relates to the last stanza, being I need a Savior, personally, I could never stand alone through my trials and tribulations. I know I can call on Him to see me through all trails this life has to through at me. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." I just would never even think of going through any trial or tribulation by myself when I do not have to do so. We can be strong in Him for sure.

      Up and more

      Blessings

I think each of your poems in this series is better than the one before. True understanding is when we can put ourselves in the place of another person -- empathy -- and you have expressed that so well here. Once we understand, then comes the need for mercy and forgiveness so that when we need those things it may be offered to us also.

Hope all is well with your and yours. So lucky to be able to call you my best friend. Talk soon.
