Waiting - A Love Poem

Updated on June 10, 2012

Waiting (Thinking of you Teddy)

Waiting...

Just passing the days

Hoping...

That I'll forget her eventually

Days go by

I keep judging

Myself

And fate

What could have been

Should it have been

What then?

What didn't happen

Should it be now

What then?

Waiting...

Just passing the days

Hoping...

That time will make me forget

I've never learned to beg for anything

But I guess there's a first and only time

For everything

But then again

Why should I?

Do I need to?

Slowly but certainly

I'm fading away from her life

And oneday like a gray memory

I'll be left aside

And that's all I'll be

A cast aside memory

Waiting...

The day that never comes.

Beautiful poem,It seems as if you are stuck in-between.I know that feeling..it s so horrible if you give it a chance .Stand and get over it..It s her loss. You deserve much better..I voted up!

I guess I do not want you to keep waiting, so I agree that we must have our own "hopeful little bubble without blocking the world." Pain and disappointment are bound to happen but Joy and elation are fighting to lift us up. Have a great day.

I agree. Similar things do happen and hence we must be hopeful about doing things right the second time.

Well I believe although there are no re-takes, similar positions happen and it is seeing through people that prevents them...and yes we must have our own hopeful little bubble ,but we cannot block the world out. I believe

Voted awesome, beautiful and Up! How coud I not? This poem gave me the sensation you'd somehow shone a spotlight on the state of my mind recently...beautifully written. Thank you..

@SinnersChoice True. But life has no re-takes. You'll never be in the same position again. So learning from failures is futile, I think. But we must live in our hopeful little bubble to stay alive, right?

I maybe young but I in a relationship being used is hard, being cheated on, ignored, put second, those days where you wait for a call/text that never comes I can feel it. It ends some how whatever the reason and you cannot juss let go. You blame yourself, you blame them. But, you use this to become stronger, to choose more wisely, and if you are strong enough and gained some knowledge along the way you will not fall for it again and see through someone. when you can see someone for who they really are. that's when you will find the "one"

It does not have to be superficial to enjoy life with partying and dancing if it comes from the sincere depth of your being. It is definitely a mystery, how one can still enjoy life despite having lost the beloved. A part of you dies with them but it can be resurrected again:-)

It can remain mutual love..........in the heart. It might gray and lines blur but if it was True, then it never becomes a cast away memory.

Yes, indeed. Love happens to the most clueless ones. It happened to me when I was so. But I didn't realize until it went away. But I guess life is about all the superficial things like partying and 'enjoying'. You're welcome Chandryclaire, thank you for the comment.

When one door closes, another one opens. Mutual Love is the hardest thing to find but while we wait for it, we need to throw a party, dance and enjoy life and the love that we are waiting for will happen without any effort of our mental faculties. Thank you for writing this poem that is the core longing in every human heart.

Very nice. Of course this is the first one an incurable romantic, like myself, would read. :) I like to think that our love haunts those who leave us. Sometimes they wake up in the middle of the night and wonder - "What the hell did I do?" ;)

Ah, the universal ache of love unrequited, unresolved, or prematurely disengaged! An all too familiar sentiment, and yet a common denominator that links us all to each other. Well done, DM! I must say that it honestly hurts those who leave others, even those who they didn't feel very much for as much if not more as the one being left. I know I've probably broken a few hearts, as I have had mine broken, and it's not any fun either way for those who actually have feelings. It's only those who never cared in the first place and just lied to use me who I know are not hurt by what they did to me, in fact, they are probably laughing (but it's hard to know which those are). Sad poem, and I can relate to your words.
