Updated on August 13, 2013

Spoilt with choices

Nowadays, there are so many sites where a writer can start instantly. From free writing sites to self publishing sites, each option has their own pros and cons. Have you ever consider and thought where you can actually start writing? With the number of sites available, even I am having a hard time deciding. I still remember days where I am thinking hard (day and night) wondering which is the best place to write. So, if you are trying to find advise and guide on where to start, you certainly came to the right spot!

Facts about an online writer
Facts about an online writer

What motivates you as a writer?

One of the best way to decide on where to start writing is what motivates you to write? There are many types of writing sites depending on your ability, skills and even your own needs as a writer. For instance as below:

  • As a general writer, you can always start basically in nearly every site I can think off such as HubPages, Triond and Factoidz
  • If you are deciding on sites to write as a professional writer instead, BrightHub and Suite101 could serve you better
  • How about freelance writer? You can easily head over to freelance sites and you could easily land a job there instead

What is your main goal in writing?

Another way to decide which site you will be writing is deciding your goal. As you all know, not all sites pays you that well and some sites are great for backlinking instead. Let me clarify with you that every site can perform backlink and can earn you money but of course, our goal is to achieve our target using the shortest and fastest way.

Determining your goal is vital as once you have decided, you are going to spend a lot of time building name and reputation at that site. Only with reputation and quality materials where you will be able to achieve a better ranking and indirectly, earning more money online as a writer.

Deciding your main and secondary sites

This part is crucial. If you want to be a successful writer, always make it a point to decide which is the best site to backlink, write and earn money online. Some sites are just good for backlink while others might be better off with getting referrals and promoting.

Once everything is done, the last part is...

The last part is the most crucial part. What you need to do now is decide on where to start and what to start. Starting the first step is important and thus always make sure you know what you are doing. As a new comer to the industry (especially new comers!), it is advisable to start writing something you are familiar with. Also, you can always write and save and do not publish them immediately. What you can and should do is to time your writing to be released to the public at the correct moment for the best outcome.
