Which Article Directory Should You Publish Your Writings

Updated on December 26, 2013

Know Your Purpose and That of The Site
In choosing the appropriate directory to publish your articles you first of all need to know and understand your purpose and objective for writing. What is your purpose and what goals do you wish to achieve? This is necessary because your own purpose should be in sync with the article directory's policies and objectives .This is important as it will prevent the misuse of the directory features. This article will provide an insightful guide into the different features and directory categories. You will also learn to choose the appropriate directory to publish your content.

The two main categories

There are two main categories of directories you can choose from. The non- revenue sharing sites and the revenue sharing sites. Both categories have different features that - depending on exactly what you want to gain- your purpose of publishing, any of them can work for you efficiently.

With the revenue sharing sites, anyone with the writing skills could sign up and start publishing content. Authors are usually paid according to the number of views of their article, and or ad impressions on their article page as well as ad clicks on their page. The revenue generated from these sites is mostly shared between the authors and the site managers. Authors are not allowed to put external links on their article pages to any commercial website. With article directories like eHow, contents are only put there by hired experts and they are paid for each article they submit to the site. You would have to first apply and add samples of your works to the application. If your application is approved, you would be earning between $25 to $30 per articles you submit to the site. You do not own the rights to the articles you submit to them when your article is bought.

With the non revenue sharing type of article directory- authors make no money from putting articles on the site. However it's free to for any author to register and start publishing your articles. Like the revenue sharing sites you could also register and subscribe for any authors contents that interest you. Ads and revenue generated capsules are only managed by the site owners- All income generated from the ads on the article pages goes to the managers of the site. The only advantage here is that also makes this category different from the others is that, writers are allowed to put external links on their article pages to their own or any commercial website which makes this type of directory very efficient for advertising or marketing your own products or website . In simple words, you can advertise your product or website link or send traffic to your commercial webpage and you pay the directory with the income you help them to make from ads placed on your article page. This type of directory is very good for SEO experts and web marketers who want to send back links to their websites or to sell a product.

No matter which directory you choose to publish your content on, each directory actually has its own benefits or advantages and disadvantages for users. Depending on what goals you would want to achieve- that should help to choose where to publish your content. Publishing your articles on any of the directory will give you the exposure and also get people to see your contents; whether you are publishing to generate income from revenue sharing sites or to send traffic to a commercial site, publishing your content on any of the directories will give you the opportunity to get noticed by interested readers. This could also increase your chances of getting hire for job opportunities such as blogging, web content, copy writing and other SEO jobs.
