World's Greatest Prankster (Limerick)

Updated on July 14, 2012

Very chubby red-suited old guy

Decided to give this game a try

Santa is his name

Deceiving his game

Causing children to believe his lie

Santa never does give the presents

This whole time it has been the parents

Greatest deceiver

Has made believers

Of poor children from every descent

Source

DIsclaimer

Don't worry, I will allow my kids to believe in Santa for a while. I do believe children should fantasize about dfifferent things.

This was just an idea that popped into my head and I hope you have enjoyed it.

I agree that Santa is a prankster. I personally didn't like the thought that someone was breaking in the house every year when I was a small child. I remember a church service I attended years ago. The preacher was warning of the dangers of material greed and said that the name Santa Clause is a hidden name for Satan's Claws.. Perhaps there is something to that.

How did I miss this? I thought this was A Christmas Hub, but you were here only 2 months. Love the rhymming and your words. I did believe in Santa of course, when we caught dad one night. JK. So we all have been deceived. Pransters we are!

As long as our children know the REAL reason to celebrate Christmas, Santa Claus is OK. But we ALL need to remember what Christmas is all about. It's not about gifts. It's not about baking or time off from work. It's about the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It that's not part of the celebration, don't partake.

Having 2 little girls, I of course can't help, but get a kick out of them believing in Santa and will not be bursting their bubble on this anytime soon, but my girls are only 3 years old and 20 months old, so I figure they have a good couple of years in believing in jolly, old St. Nick. However, thoroughly enjoyed your limerick and voted up and shared too.

Nice. You get better and better at limiricks!

Actually, Santa Clause is a knockdown of St. Nicholas who gave his possessions to the needy and poor. His legend somehow became incorporated into the birth of Christ. Then commercialism set in. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause! However, he has nothing to do with Christmas.....

its well known and open secret but again children has every right to live in a world of dream till when the reality strikes. when reality strikes life and world becomes almost coloreless for many. so the childhood lives should be left to lead amongst as many colors as possible.

josh3418 its nice to know that you will let your children to believe in Santa for while and every parents should play that part as long as possible to let the children breathe in the power to dream for a brighter and happy real world.

Children need something to believe in and fantasize about, lie though it may be. It's the commercialization of Xmas that truly deceives, I'd say! Thought provoking limerick there.
