Writing A Poem

WRITING A POEM

I've been trying to write a poem

For what feels like ages

But i keep looking down

And there's only blank pages.

Should i use prose

Or a lot of rhyming

The last thing i want

Is poetic social climbing.

It's a real problem

It must be writers block

I'm now spending all my time

Just looking at the clock.

I'm really struggling now

But i have a hunch

I'll stop this at the moment

And i'll go and have my lunch.

I settle down at the table

Have some food and drink

Then without pressure

I begin to think.

I go back to writing

And what do you know

The break has worked a treat

And the words begin to flow.

Just like a gardener

Who has plants and wants to grow them

An idea takes root

And becomes a fully-fledged poem.

Great poem! You've expressed how many of us feel when it comes to writing. Your struggle with creating a good poem and my struggle with creating a good blog.

tnderher23- I have the hardest time in the world to think poetic. I think in story. So much so my friends will often ask me if this is a story each time I start to talk. I am not sure if that means I talk to much or just to full of story.

In any case I love this piece Michael it all rings so true with me. Next time I cannot bring a poem to mind I will try your trick and go dine. heh

Have a great day my friend and KEEP WRITTING!

Sweet! Its a funny thing... I love to write, especially poetry...but I can't turn on the words like the kitchen faucet...its all dependent upon inspiration for me...when it flows, it gushes...but sometimes the well seems dry! I love your poem! Great job!
