Your One Stop Spell Checker Shop:Grammarly.Com

Updated on July 3, 2012

REVIEW

If you are a professional writer, spell checkers are your friends. Even though I edit over all my work before publication to make sure it is error free. The human eye can sometimes miss a mistake. Running my piece through a spell checker help me make sure I am completely error free. There are a lot of grammar/ spelling software choices out there on the market to choose from. Which one do you choose? Out of all the spell checkers, note I have tried a few (Read my review on Ginger Software.) I think I have found my perfect match in Grammarly.com.

What is Grammarly. Com?

Grammarly.com is your one stop spell checker shop, seriously. It checks for spelling error, grammar errors such as preposition, modifiers, punctuation mistakes, and features a plagiarism checker! I think this is the feature is what makes Grammarly.com stand out above the rest. Plagiarism is a serious issue in the freelance writing world. If you are writing for any client, you can surely bet they have a copyscape program that check for plagiarism from their writers. Sometimes you can even plagiarize without even knowing you did. I personally love this feature on Grammarly.com. It lets me know not only is my work error free but that it is completely original as well, which is what clients want.

Another thing about Grammarly.com is not only do you get your worked reviewed for grammar errors Grammarly also educates you also as it gives you detailed explanation as to why your sentence did not make sense grammatically. I thought my English and grammar was good, but Grammarly.com put me to shame finding errors I did not believe. Why did that sentence not make sense? Grammarly.com explains it for you, showing you exactly the correct way it should be. So actually you can kind of learn and improve your grammar skills using Grammarly.com.

How Grammarly.com Works

So how does Grammarly.com work? Grammarly. Com first works only online only, though it now can be downloaded to your computer if you have Microsoft Office. To gain access all you have to do is sign up for a subscription then sign in with a user name password to get instant access. To use it is easy! All you do is either copy paste or upload from your computer your document you want reviewed. Then click on the review button and Grammarly scans through your document for errors. When done a little report pops up on the side listing how many errors in grammar listing exactly the grammar issue, spelling, and punctuation. Click on your error and you are taken to the error directly as it will explain to you the reason behind your grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistake this is highlighted in red. You can make corrections right there too which will be highlighted in blue. Once you are done with your corrections you will want to hit review again to make sure your corrections, were correct. You also rated a score too that is up at the top right side of how many errors were found got out of 100, 100 meaning the article is perfect. When you get 100 out of 100, then you know your document is as polished as it can get.

Overall Results

Grammarly.com rates 4 stars. This is one of the best spell checker/ grammar checker I have come across. Grammarly.com is great for anyone whether they are writing for business or doing a school report. This is all I believe thanks to their plagiarism checker. That little feature won me over and makes me switch from my previous spell/ grammar checker program.
