Do you think our history should've consist of the Holy Bible teaching?
And do you believe the so called truths in the history books?
History books are different in each country which should say something. But no, nothing religious should be included in historical records.
History lessons should include material that relates to the Bible.
This is important because people/students should have an understanding of how the church has tried to re-write history down the ages. This should be especially true of the methods that the church has employed to re-write history. Methods such as: torture, burning people alive at the stake, assassination, mass murder, genocide, war, book burning, the destruction of evidence, destroying the holy shrines of older religions and building churches on the same sites, mass indoctrination and plagiarizing the myths of other cultures.
Religion has aways sought to distort the truth and bury the reality. This should be taught in schools.
No. That is a personal belief no fact. It is not accepted by most of the world as fact and can't really be proven. It is also not specifically US History. Besides kids have enough to try to remember without getting more dumped on them. Adding that will only increase their work load and add to their frustration.
I have heard in the news, I can't remember exactly where, but it said that most kids want the Bible because it has moral teaching. Sometimes I wished there would have been Bible in school but becasue of history it's out, but yet some poems are about Christian beliefs that some poets aren't. So we will always get people thinking it should be back and not.
There are beautifully written stories in the Bible, Koran, Vedas, Bagvad Gita, Zorastrian Literature, Greek , Roman and Norse Epics, Aboriginal legends, etc. All of this writing has value in literary and religious studies. Some religious stories may be related to history and archeology.
The Bible is not a history book. The Bible is a holy book which also records the story of man and his relationship to and with his Creator.
I do believe the Bible has a place in historical tradition. It is a great way to get children interested in history and geography. It has many flashes of fact and cultural understanding within it. That being said, children next need to learn the proper context of the Bible as compared to the historical, archeological, and geological record. One problem with the Bible today is that most people who read it do not know what they are reading, when it was written, or who wrote it.
