I gazed out the motel front window across the desert towards where Los Angeles was. It was fairly early morning. The air was crisp and clean.

“Did I get far enough away in time?” I wondered. I turned towards the television to check out the news.

Then came the flash. It was an airburst.

    “Safe!” thought I.

Then I saw the rolling dust cloud...

I dived down below the window and huddled against the wall.

The impact shattered the window, slamming the glass shards across the room.

    The roaring got louder…

    I was wrong.

The above was an actual dream I had awhile back. When the roaring got louder is when I woke up.

The above is a post I made on B. I so thoroughly enjoy fiction writing. But I strongly suspect I am lousy at it. This is a solicitation for advice.

Had me scurrying to Merriam Webster to look up "airburst."
    Very compelling!

I think if you go to the nearest PIZZAMYHEART and get a slice you will find yourself quickly thinking more clearly.   It has happened to me.
