how do i get my manuscript published, without a lot of cash layout upfront?
I do not have cash to invest in publishing my manuscript.
I think I must be confused or something, or maybe you are.
If I have a manuscript ready to be published: Why should I be paying anything to a publisher to print and publish it? Are they not supposed to be paying the Author for all of his/her hard work? If you are being asked by some publisher for money so that the publisher can do their job, get another one fast.
Unless you are doing self-publishing, you should not be paying for your manuscript to be published.
Here is a great website about vanity publishers and what to avoid: http://www.sfwa.org/for-authors/writer-beware/
good luck with publication!
You don't pay anything upfront to have a manuscript published, publishers pay you.
Publishers that want payment are called Vanity publishers, stay away from them.

How do you go about having a book published?I've been looking into publishing companies. I've noticed some want money up front and some don't. What are the steps to publishing? What happens once you submit a manuscript? Does anyone know the step by step process?

If you have, give details about the process you went through. Alright for those who say they don't understand the question, I'm asking about the process you went thru publishing a book with no money down. Has anyone done this before?

Was wondering if you all think HubPages is a good networking tool for someone seriously seeking publication or whether it actually hurts your chances more than it helps them? ( some places will not accept submissions that have been published elsewhere) Have any of you been published since you...
