Overall, I've been impressed with Lulu and the quality of the materials they use for printing books, but that's not to say I haven't had my fair share of complaints. Tech support and customer service are terrible, probably the worst quality of any that I've ever interacted with anywhere. If you're going to publish with Lulu, just do the free process. They'll try to sell you all kinds of packages, proof copies, formatting services, etc. but you don't need any of those things to create a good book that people can buy and enjoy. Kind of a mixed review, but I recommend it. It's easy enough to work around the various problems that crop up when using Lulu.
I originally just wanted a copy in my hands of my poetry so I tried it. I used their free publishing tools and it was so easy especially for a beginner like me who never tried publishing and self publishing ever LOL My Lulu experience was awesome though all was unplanned, never really was serious selling and marketing my book as I've mentioned I just wanted my own book copy. Surprisingly, few people bought my book and I've received good reviews. Cheeky girl made a review bout it that I'm so thankful For someone who would be so serious with marketing and spreading the word bout their book, I'd say it would work a success. As for me, I effortlessly had a milestone
I made a hub bout easy ways to avoid the headaches in publishing at Lulu in:

If there are any professional, published authors here on hubpages (and I'm sure there are tons of you guys) I was wondering if someone could tell me if self-publishing is good or bad, and maybe give a couple of pros and cons. It would be my first book.

Have you published a book?Have you published anything either traditionally or as an E book? Was it through a publisher or did you do it yourself?

Is there any way to publish traditional books directly with Amazon? Every time I try to look that up on their site, they direct me to their Kindle section.
