Such a phenomenon nationwide; I wonder if you've read about cowboy poetry.

I've been hearing cowboy poetry my entire life. That said -- I'm from Wyoming. I don't know where it originated, if you can pinpoint any one place, but I'm in the heart of "The Wild West" and we're pretty much bound and determined to stay there. Most of my family on my mom's side is still comprised of working cowboys...this year my uncle has finally decided that maybe he should scale back breaking colts this year, part of his 54th birthday present to himself. We have to have poetry readings at just about every family gathering and community event . I've even written a couple that got published myself, though no great shakes -- love celebrating the life, though.
