Do you have any idea of how I can turn something I visually imagined into a book?
For example, I have a dream I want to turn into a good and interesting book that people will want to read.
Step one: Sit down and start writing.
If you can do this, you're ahead of half the people who want to be writers.
Step two: Keep writing until you're finished.
If you can do this, you're ahead of the next 49%.
Get those taken care of, and then maybe the folks here can help you out.
Jeff Berndt is right; ideas are a dime a dozen. It doesn't really matter how good it is; if no one is willing to write it, it isn't worth much of anything. Since most, if not all, writers are always engrossed in their own projects, there isn't much hope of selling the idea either. So the task falls to you. My advice is to start simple; maybe try it as a short story. Get the basic plot and characters down first and see where the story can go. Once you've got more of a foundation to work from, you can start expanding it into a novel.

Do any other writers have any techniques for dealing with being blocked? I have tried just doing it but I give up after five minutes of writing.
