What to do first when writing for a short film?
My friend asked me if I could be their write for their short film about getting rid of drugs. Although their high hopes for me are a little bit encouraging, the fact remains that I've never written a short film before. So my question is when writing for a short film, do you have to go straight for a script or do you have to focus only on the plot first?
Thanks a lot!
Whether or not you should start writing a script first or focus only on a plot, I'd say whatever works for you is best. I personally wouldn't just focus on the plot. What I typically do is write down all ideas I have the the story, including dialogue, and start from there. If you're still stuck, draw from personal experience and/or anything you know about your subject. Hope that helps
