Can you get in trouble for mentioning films, songs or other books in your novel?
What kind of rights violations are there for mentioning these things in your own works of fiction? I don't mean using actual lines from movies, books or songs, but what if you just make a reference to it? Can you be penalized for it?
There is no violation for mentioning a film/song/book title in your novel. You can reference as many as you want so long as you don't full on quote them without permission (though even that seems to be ok in some cases).
