What are the best books you ever read? And why?

Me, I liked Don Quixote and The Stranger (Camus) the most. Don Quixote because of the innocent main character, with his strange yet original ideas about everything. The Stranger because it is very well written, and the unexpected turn of events.

    What about you?

Good question. I've yet to read Don Quixote, hopefully I can correct that this winter!
I completely enjoyed, David Copperfield. Just loved Dicken's ability to write.

As far as the best books, I guess War and Peace or The Brother Karamazov. One you get past the first hundred pages or so it is like you are there.

Some of my all time favorite books are Gone With the Wind and Wuthering Heights. I love the stubborn (if foolish) female heroines  and how they don't have the typical happy endings of most books.

Books by Patricia Briggs, Kresley Cole, and Jeanniene Frost. I love their characters, the relationships between the characters, and the way the story lines continues on. However, I want to read a book that has characters that come alive. Each of my favorite novels is like having a pocket friend. I can be happy just by reading a book like having a visit from an old friend.

I still remember reading the Hobbit - I was totally absorbed in it.  I have enjoyed Dan Brown's Books, and more recently, I enjoyed reading The Poisonwood Bible so much I did my first book review on HubPages.  I have read The Stranger by Camus, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me.  I really enjoy reading Mark Twain's short stories as well.  His observations on human foibles make be chuckle.
