Are you conspicuous by your absence?

'... and if you decide not to turn up then you will be conspicuous by your absence.'
Is an extract from the end of an email I received,  it's nonsensical to me, and doesn't make any sense. My understanding of the word 'conspicuous' is something that is clearly visible, striking to the eye, lavish and note worthy.   In my understanding, my absence may well be noteworthy but certainly not conspicuous!

I do not know English that well but let me assume that the person who wrote you a letter meant "suspicious" . Then it probably  makes sense  smile

Yes, in some forums and arenas.................I AM.

People notice when you do not deem the " meeting" important enough to attend.

If you do not have this presence of power...........then you simply do not.

I , myself, do not have it in all arenas, but when I is as if I were on loudspeaker!

Yes, people will note, when I am not in attendence.........within my field of experitise.................senators will not miss me.
