    Erezmias

                                                                                                    Donna Bamford
In Plaka, just below the Acropolis
    A little white-washed taverna,
    5 tables, 15 chairs,
    green retsina barrels
    line the walls
    a perfume of charcoal smoke
    and fresh retsina
    permeates the room
    bizouki, bizouki
    and the old songs
    Theodorakis
    give us back the marbles
    and at the front
Erizmia - a little wizened woman
    perhaps 85 years old
    cooking potato omelettes
    over the  charcoal burner
tasty fare for the Greeks and odd tourist
    who decorate her salon
    once philosophers and famous poets
    retsina by the tankard
    goes down well
with the sun-singing bizouki  and Theodorakis
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Erezmiaâs

I recognise Greece from this, ah, Retsina ... a thimble full and I trip up on the staircases. Enjoyed reading this.
