   Any credible publishers/magazines that accept dark poetry?
   
   I'm a poet at heart that loves writing about the dark side of life, but I find it extremely difficult to find credible literary magazines or publishers that accept and publish such work. I have a goal to be published in print before I turn 30, and I have worked on a particular poem for about 6 years and now that I am almost finished I would love if I could get in published within the next few years. Does anyone know of credible magazines or publishers in which I could publish a dark poem in print?

   Interesting.
   How dark?
   I have written a couple of "dark" poems, but whack them in with the soppy, the sentimental, the introspective.

      It's pretty dark. It's about deep depression and addiction.

   I love the fact that you've been working on a poem for six years. Who was it who said a poem is never actually finished? Or is only a sketch? Ezra Pound? Not sure. Sometimes when I get into the poetry zone I get the feeling I'm only rehearsing and the real thing, the finished performance, is way into the distance somewhere.

   One has a database of print magazines, the others you'll have to check out. I wish you well. Many print magazines will take any subject if they like the form and style and content. All strength to your writing.
