By opening a Word document.
That sounds snide, but it's true. Lots of people talk about writing a book, few of them actually open the Word document (or program of choice) and start.
Writers start by learning the mechanics of writing; writing like anything else is a skill. It needs to be learned and then practiced.
The more you write the easier it becomes to put your thoughts and ideas down on paper or on screen if you are using a computer.
