Do you have a favorite saying, or quote?

A long time ago a man once told me "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see". I never did check to see if this was a mainstream quote. I just preferred to keep it the wisdom of the man who said it to me. This phrase has stuck with me throughout the years. I'm just wondering if anyone has anything similar, that has stuck with them over time.

"In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has been made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

I still smile when I come back to this one.
      I wish it were mine.

I have three favourite quotes. They follow:
“The cook was a good cook, as cooks go; and as cooks go, she went.” which is by H. H. Munro (Saki)
    also
“People may say what they like about the decay of Christianity, the religious system that produced green Chartreuse can never really die.” Which is also by Saki, from ‘Reginald on Christmas presents’.
There is the third quote, which is by myself, but modesty forbids me from retelling it here. With good fortune, however, you may be able to read it in the collected works of my good self, on my demise.

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
    ― Christopher McCandless

Love this. Just wish many parents would understand and give their children the freedom to live their life and decide their own destiny. Being overly protective limits one's creativity. Children may learn more from their mistakes.

"Be kind to one another." - Ellen Degeneres. She always says this after her show and I truly believe that if everyone practice this, the world would be a much more pleasant place.

I must agree, it costs nothing to be kind and humanity would benefit greatly if people could show more kindness!
