Do you have a favorite saying, or quote?
A long time ago a man once told me "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see". I never did check to see if this was a mainstream quote. I just preferred to keep it the wisdom of the man who said it to me. This phrase has stuck with me throughout the years. I'm just wondering if anyone has anything similar, that has stuck with them over time.
"In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has been made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
-- Douglas Adams, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
I have three favourite quotes. They follow:
“The cook was a good cook, as cooks go; and as cooks go, she went.” which is by H. H. Munro (Saki)
“People may say what they like about the decay of Christianity, the religious system that produced green Chartreuse can never really die.” Which is also by Saki, from ‘Reginald on Christmas presents’.
There is the third quote, which is by myself, but modesty forbids me from retelling it here. With good fortune, however, you may be able to read it in the collected works of my good self, on my demise.
Bruce lee-free your mind be like water, without shape that easily adjusts to any obstacle.
Simple words that apply to life and its challanges
"Not All Those Who Wander are Lost" - J R R Tolkien - tattooed in Elvish on my R foot
"If, By My Life Or Death, I Can Protect You, I will" - J R R Tolkien - tattooed in English on my L bicep with my daughters name and DOB under it.
"Happiness is when what you think, what you say and what you do are in Harmony" Gandhi - tattooed in Hindi on my L Foot.
"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - not tattooed anywhere..
“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.”
― Christopher McCandless
"Be kind to one another." - Ellen Degeneres. She always says this after her show and I truly believe that if everyone practice this, the world would be a much more pleasant place.
Yes, I do. It's my very own:
"Live your life as if you screwed up your previous one."
"Even the smallest person can change the course of the future."
---From "The Lord of the Rings"
"The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Not everyone can become a great artist. But a great artist can come from anywhere."
"Everything you want is on the other side of fear." - Jack Canfield
"To get what you want, STOP doing what isn't working." - Dennis Weaver
"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest." - Benjamin Franklin
We laugh at honor, then are shocked to find traitors in our midst.
