Take a moment to read Cindy Hewitt's article.

She shows us how to teach children and connect with family by using this idea in a children's picture book.

    Joy goes gardening with Grandma.

She also shows teachers how to bring this into the classroom.

You, too. Glad you're back. I haven't participated much in the forums or the feed. I've been swamped with master gardener work, but it's slacking off a bit now. Will pick up again in a few months.

    Cindy...
This is a terrific idea to garden with children.

It teaches them so much along the journey.

Bringing it into the classroom is a great idea.

Many children don't have these opportunities at home.

The book Cindy recommends encourages adult-child togetherness, while it teaches great lessons in gardening. Great gift idea for the grandchildren. Thanks for sharing, Cindy. Thanks for the link, Brenda.

In my garden I have iris from my Grandmother, a Great Aunt, and Mother-in-Law. They have all passed away but the flowers still bloom every year.

    Hello Cindy,
I agree with the title of your article. I love spending time with my garden plants, and I think it’s a wonderful idea to encourage children to participate in gardening activities. Besides learning the value of family and relationships, they will learn so many things about Nature and environment.
Thank you for sharing this Brenda.
