Summerfield is a romance novel set in a coffee shop. A young woman leaves New York City to open her coffee shop in a small town right next to a bookstore owned by a handsome stranger. This is chapter 1 of the rough draft.
Chapter 11: Part 1
I’d ordered new appliances for the kitchen and tables, chairs, and couches for the dining area. I’m sure the trucks and workers made quite a scene as they milled around outside and inside my shop. I’m sure excitement was in the air in this small town. At least I hoped potential customers would be curious enough to check my business out in a few months.

Chapter 11: Part 2
“How’s it going?” Josh wasn’t smiling, but he seemed genuinely curious as usual.
“Oh, fine. I have almost everything I need. I just need to start hiring some help.”
“Great,” he looked like he wanted to ask at least 10 more questions, but was biting his tongue for once.
“How about you?”
“Well, all the cleaning is done. No more dusty books,” he smiled briefly.
“See you Monday?”
“Yeah, see ya.”
I unlocked my car and stepped inside.
