Wiccan Spell Books

Updated on December 11, 2013

The Best Witchcraft Spell Books For Wiccans

If you're a Wiccan, you know that spells are the backbone of your practice, and you will need some good Wiccan spell books to learn making white magic spells, unless you have a teacher, or your coven members to rely on.

And let's face it, one can never have a big enough collection of spells, recipes and potions for every occasion. What I particularly like about witch spell books is that you can not only learn to do a magick spell, but also how to write your own spells for anything you might need them for.

If you are in dire need of a good love spell, attract money spell, protection and healing spell, binding spell, fertility spell or any other every day spell that you might think of, these witchcraft spell books can teach you how to make them and how to come up with your own unique versions that will work just for you.

Spells are quite easy to learn and there are just a couple of basic guidelines that you need to follow. These books will teach you all that and more.

Shown here is the Real Witches Spell Book by Jeannie Northrup, a book that I have and keep going back to over and over again.

Love Spells

The Salem Witches Book Of Love Spells: Ancient Spells from Modern Witches

by Lilith McLelland

If you're looking for books on love spells (and who isn't...), then this is one that I can heartily recommend. Some of these spells are extremely old, dating to the 15th Century, which means they stood the test of time and survived even when the Salem witches have gone through such great ordeals in their times.

Moreover, these spells really work. They are not dark or dangerous spells, and they are perfect for Wiccans of all ages.

What I like about this even more is that it's written in an easy way that leaves you chuckling now and then, it's quite humorous at times. You can't but feel uplifted and positive when reading this book and trying out the spells within.

White Spells: Magic for Love, Money & Happiness - by Ileana Abrev

White Spells: Magic for Love, Money & Happiness (White Spells Series)
White Spells: Magic for Love, Money & Happiness (White Spells Series)

While this book is not focusing exclusively on love spells, it has quite a nice selection of spells to attract love. But it also has spells on enhancing psychic abilities, bring money and prosperity, for banishing colds and flu and many more.

The sections on love spells include spells for finding your soul mate, for attracting the right person for you, spells before going out on a date, and a few more.

She writes in a very easy going way which makes you feel that she's writing specially for you. You feel instantly comfortable and at ease when reading this book.

How To Enchant A Man: Spells to Bewitch, Bedazzle & Beguile

by Ellen Dugan

Ellen Dugan is quite a popular author on Wiccan books. This particular book by her is one that includes lots of every day down to earth tips and ideas, along with actual spells to try out.

What I like about this book is that it includes the ethics of spellcrafting. So many authors ignore this very important aspect of being a Wiccan. Afterall we all know the law of threefold return, which is very important to teach especially to new witches.

A highly recommended enchanting book.

Simple Spells For Love - by Barrie Dolnick

Simple Spells for Love: Ancient Practices for Emotional Fulfillment
Simple Spells for Love: Ancient Practices for Emotional Fulfillment

Simple Spells For LoveSimple spells for love are exactly what the book cover says: easy spells for attracting love in your life. This is a great guide on how to cast these spells including some spells to try out right away.

With her easy to follow instructions, the spells can't fail, period, especially if you're looking to find your true love with whom you're meant to be together.

Also you will find that it's very easy to get access to most ingredients needed for making these spells, which is an added bonus.

Spells For Protection

Protection and Reversal Magick
Protection and Reversal Magick

Protection and Reversal Magick

by Jason Miller

This book is simply awesome. You should get it whether you are a Wiccan or simply practicing witchcraft.

It is a well rounded book that gives you tons of tips on protection and magick reversal should something be cast on you. The thing is, many people are on the receiving end of a nasty spell or curse and they have no clue about it!

The problem with these spells is that they can be truly dangerous to the health. So knowing how to ward off these curses and spells is of really important.

If you only get one book on protection from nasty spells, let it be this one. It's a whole manual on avoiding, defending from and even reversing the spells. Truly recommended book, one that I wouldn't part with for anything!

Practical Protection Magick: Guarding & Reclaiming Your Power - by Ellen Dugan

Practical Protection Magick: Guarding & Reclaiming Your Power
Practical Protection Magick: Guarding & Reclaiming Your Power

We've already discussed about Ellen Dugan before and we've decided that she has some awesome books, and it's true. Her Practical Protection Magick is another one that I can warmly recommend.

She has some great advice on protection for Wiccans and what I especially like about her book is how she teaches how to decide whether the 'attack' is voluntary or unwanted.

Many times we feel negative towards others simply because we're in a bad mood. We hurt others without even realizing. And knowing when that happens is the first step towards proper protection from something involuntary like that.

Ellen has this way of talking to you instead of at you that puts you right at ease. I always enjoy reading her books an all witchy subjects.

The Witch's Shield: Protection Magick and Psychic Self-Defense

by Christopher Penczak

Christopher Penczak is one of my favorite authors on witchcraft ever. I've read all his books (including his series on Temple of Witchcraft) and I've learned lots from them. He is a great teacher, one that will not leave you behind.

This book is an absolute must if you feel that you need to protect yourself from harmful magick. Psychic self-defense is just as real as psychic vampires are. The author explains very well exactly why we need these defense spells and mechanisms and how to go about protecting ourselves the right way.

A great book by a great Wiccan author!

Spiritual Cleansing: Handbook of Psychic Protection - by Draja Mickaharic

Spiritual Cleansing: Handbook of Psychic Protection (English Edition)
Spiritual Cleansing: Handbook of Psychic Protection (English Edition)

A real classic manual that is full with various spells on psychic protection. When you look at the book, it's rather small, but don't let its size fool you. It's really good and you can learn lots from it.

While many other books focus on various aspects of protection, defending and reversing spells, this little book focuses exclusively on protection, on spiritual cleansing. Even if you're not practicing witchcraft, you need to know about proper protection and banishing, and this book is truly useful for everyone, no matter of religion or practice.

Every Day Spells

Everyday Sun Magic: Spells & Rituals for Radiant Living - by Dorothy Morrison

Everyday Sun Magic: Spells & Rituals for Radiant Living (Everyday Series)
Everyday Sun Magic: Spells & Rituals for Radiant Living (Everyday Series)

If you're looking for wiccan spell books for every day, this one is a great book to start with. It focuses on the sun, which is something that not many authors touch upon in their books (most of them are writing about moon spells).

If you've thought of incorporating astrology with your Wicca traditions, now is the best time to start, with this book. It gives you an easy way into the relationships between witchcraft and astrology and teaches you lots in the process.

The book is by no means perfect, but it's a good starting point nevertheless.

Book of Witchery: Spells, Charms & Correspondences for Every Day of the Week

by Ellen Dugan

Here is another great book by Ellen Dugan. I keep coming back to her because I truly love every single one of her books. And she has quite a few, basically covering almost everything that has to do with Wicca and white witchcraft.

She not only has spells in her book for every day but also some very powerful and useful meditations that you can follow along. A light reading for heavy and stressful days, it is something that everyone should have on their Wiccan bookshelf.

Everyday Magic: Spells & Rituals for Modern Living - by Dorothy Morrison

Everyday Magic: Spells & Rituals for Modern Living (Everyday Series)
Everyday Magic: Spells & Rituals for Modern Living (Everyday Series)

Everyday Magic is a great reference book with spells on pretty much anything you'll ever need. It even has spells on how to protect your pc!

All these spells make a lot of sense, they're used for your average daily encounters with life in general, and you can easily find the ingredients for these spells. That's one major plus in my book.

So many authors focus on ingredients that you simply can't get anywhere unless you're in the neighborhood of some very obscure occult shop!

The Magical Household: Spells & Rituals for the Home - by Scott Cunningham

The Magical Household: Spells & Rituals for the Home (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series)
The Magical Household: Spells & Rituals for the Home (Llewellyn's Practical Magick Series)

n my book Scott Cunningham is one of the best Wiccan authors of today. He has several awesome books (I have them all!) and they're written in such a great way that you won't be bored and you'll learn lots.

This book has so much more than just simple spells. It even goes into Feng Shui a bit. It teaches you how to purify and cleanse your surroundings, and how make your home a most welcome oasis for the family and guests.

I highly recommend all Scott Cunningham's books if you are a Wiccan!

Mrs. B's Guide to Household Witchery: Everyday Magic, Spells, and Recipes
Mrs. B's Guide to Household Witchery: Everyday Magic, Spells, and Recipes

A new book published towards end of 2012, it's all about household spells and magic to make the boring household chores a bit more fun. You might know the author through her popular blog called "Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom".

What I like about this book is that it's not your typical cookbook for wicca 101. For example you will find many recipes that are made 'on a budget' with items that are easy to find and inexpensive. You don't have to spend a mini fortune to make these spells. A great reference book for a witch at any level. Great for new witches, but seasoned ones will find lots of great things in it as well. Recommended.

Make Your Own Spells

Your Book Of Shadows: How to Write Your Own Magickal Spells - by Patricia Telesco

Your Book Of Shadows: How to Write Your Own Magickal Spells
Your Book Of Shadows: How to Write Your Own Magickal Spells

This book is really a useful one because it teaches you not only how to write your own spells but how to tackle - and what to write in your own BOS. The Book of Shadows is one of the most precious tools to any witch (be it Wiccan or not) and many books leave out this part.

The problem is, when you're starting out, unless you're in a coven, there are many things you simply don't know how to do. And one of them is tackling your Book Of Shadows.

This book is truly a gem, one that should not be missed from any serious Wiccan bookshelf!

There is a story of a man who spent 20 years learning how to walk on water, and when the Buddha saw him he boeastd of his achievements, and the Buddha said, In these 20 years you have accomplished nothing, you are still in the bondage of conditioned reality, you will continue to suffer. The man then realized that he had wasted his life and became a Buddhist.

The Teen Spell Book: Magick for Young Witchesby Jamie WoodPaperback: black & white text and illustrationsThis easy-to read book has so much iaofrmntion to offer anyone starting out in Wicca or for acclimated practitioners who are looking for some new ideas. Although the writer teaches some false issues (such as Wicca being an ancient tradition which predates Christianity) it makes up for its errors in other ways. Far from being newbie-ish, as many teen books tend to be, The Teen Spell Book teaches rather than preaches. There is a small section in the beginning which includes some history on Wicca (almost none of which is true, but can be overlooked) and follows with easy to read charts and step-by-step instructions.Readers will find short and to-the-point chapters on iaofrmntion pertaining to Wicca, such as how to practice, and beliefs. The next chapter discusses the holidays and their traditions. Following these pages are beautifully decorated charts on Gods and Goddesses, listed by their holidays, animal totems, runes, and elementals. A short glossary is included in the back of the book. The iaofrmntion in this book is easy to locate and tends to be ordered as it would be in the reader's own book of shadows, taking things one step at a time. Of course, most teens want to get to the main thing: spells. Never, in my years of teaching witchcraft have I seen such a compilation all in one place. In face, over 3/4 of the entire book is devoted entirely to spells, each one carefully laid out and easy to read with tools and materials easily accessible to teens. The spells in The Teen Spell Book are all incredibly useful. Some are for fun while others have real use in everyday life. This beautiful book includes seventy five spells for love, luck, beauty, and happiness, including:Heal from illness, pain, or negativityDiscover what others say about youDiscover your unique giftSee the future or fairiesEstablish trust with your parentsFind love or learn to fit inHave a peaceful breakup or heal a broken heartMeet a famous personSummon a loved one's spiritFeel rich or make moneyGet rid of rumors and be invited to partiesCast a spell of protectionGet a jobGet less homeworkMake Colleges Beg for YouPass the classMake your hair grow longBanish Self-DestructivenessDealing with teasing and criticismFree yourself from depressionAs a teacher of the craft, I highly recommend this book. Despite its few drawbacks, it is definitely the best book on the subject I have ever come into contact with. -AmberSkyfireEditor of WitchCrafted
