My Garden In My Own Backyard
Join me for a walk in my garden, which happens to be my own backyard.
Everyone needs a great away. A place where peace and serenity can readily be found. For my husband and me, we can find that place in our own backyard.
We both appreciate the great outdoors and all of the animals that live there. If we can just clear our minds of the days stresses and the little jobs that still await us, we can enjoy our own little paradise by simply slipping out our own back door.

One Precious Gift in My Garden
Jane Magnolia in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
While some people struggle to find gifts to give to one another, around our home you really don't have to look very far to figure out what would be the perfect present. We love trees and flowers. When the two are combined, it is truly precious.
In the linked article about our Jane Magnolia, I tell the story of one perfect gift and one precious giver!
The Dancers in My Garden
Flowering Pear Trees in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
Perhaps it is a little fantastical, but when I watch these lovely limbs blowing in the spring breeze, they look like they are engaged in a dance.
I only wish I had the grace, poise, beauty and charm of this magnificent enchantress.
Please visit the linked article to find out more about our Flowering Pear Trees.
So Much Beauty in My Garden

To help create the peaceful setting in our backyard, we surround ourselves with beauty.
This lovely Alexander Magnolia tree blooms in the Spring and makes our hearts rejoice.
I would love to tell you about this tree and why it is one of my personal favorites.
The Messenger in My Garden
Yoshino Cherry Tree in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
You never know what will bear a special message and speak directly to your heart. Because it is unexpected, it tends to take your breath away and leave you moved beyond words. That is exactly what happened to me on Good Friday, 2010.
As I stepped into my backyard that morning, I was not anticipating anything out of the ordinary. I just planned to take a quick picture of our Yoshino Cherry tree.
Follow me to the article link below the photo and let me tell you about my little messenger.
Brilliant Beauty in My Garden
Red Maple Trees in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
My Red Maple trees are indeed brilliant beauties! Each year, in the fall, a gorgeous portrait is painted by the hand of God in our front yard.
Over the years, we have been "gifted" a few more Red Maple trees that we, ourselves, did not purchase. They just "arrived" in my flower pots and we transferred them to our yard.
Red Maple trees can share your life with you, literally, because their average life is 70+ years. Oh, and these trees will get gigantic! They grow up to 60 ft. tall. You can learn more about the Red Maple tree in the article linked below the photo.
Join me as we take a closer look at my Red Maple trees.
Just a Few of Our Friends Over for Dinner
Flower Gardening in Containers and Pots in My Garden
Container Gardening in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
I will readily admit, container gardening has saved my sanity!
My pups like to romp all over the back yard. Nothing on the ground is spared from their paws and other actions.
Not only do the pots allow me to have flowers that will co-exist with our pets; I love the versatility of pots. They can easily be moved or rearranged in order to ensure a beautiful presentation.
Be sure you take a close look at the Bat Plant featured in this article. It is a very unusual flower!
Inviting Guests to My Garden
Rose of Sharon in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
My lovely Rose of Sharon is literally right next to my back door.
It's blooms serve as our home's welcoming committee, but not only does it greet guests as they enter our home, it invites them.
Want to know how it invites guests? You can see exactly what I mean in the article below :)

One Good Morning Greeting in My Garden
Morning Glories in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
Another precious gift!
This sweet little flower represents so much more to me than just a morning greeting. When I see the Morning Glory blooms I can still remember my precious little boy planting it for me years ago.
Each year it returns to send greetings of love!

A Different Kind of Christmas Tree in My Garden
Christmas Trees in the Garden of Sylvestermouse
Some of my favorite memories of my childhood surround our many Christmas trees, not just the lights and gifts, but the gift of life.
As a child, I was taught to respect life, even the life of a tree.
The article below will give you a brief glimpse of one way we celebrate Christmas and life.
Perhaps, it will even give you a few ideas for gifts.

Decorative Painted Concrete Figures in My Garden
Like my Little Friends in the Introduction Photo
Many years ago, I started painting my own garden figurines to set around my garden. Now, my work can be viewed in several gardens in our area as I have gifted friends and family with their own Hand-painted by Sylvestermouse originals.
It is not that hard to paint them and I find it rather therapeutic. More than anything, I enjoy sharing my work. Since I cannot send a figurine to all of my friends and readers online, I have shared How to Paint Your Own Garden Figurines. I truly hope you have as much fun and get as much joy as I do out of painting and decorating your own gardens.
