GlobeIn Fair Trade Artisan Subscription Box - The Bathe Box Review

Updated on June 28, 2016

GlobeIn started the New Year 2016 off clean, with a Bathe-themed box being in January. With a lovely selection of items, it was definitely one of my favourite boxes so far. If it is any indication of the year to come, it will be a very good year.

Woven Basket from Mexico

As usual there was a woven basket in the box. This time, it came in a gorgeous pattern that I hadn't seen before and a gorgeous vibrant pink color. I think it might be my favourite basket to date.

Pestemal Bath Towel from Turkey

There were two towels in this box, and one of them happened to match the woven basket quite nicely. Such a lovely color! This item is listed as a bath towel, but there's something about the weave of the 100% cotton fabric that makes me think of a kitchen towel more than a bath towel. It's also quite large, nearly 1 meter by 2 meters. As such, I think I'm more likely to use this to lie on when sunbathing or for picnics than as an actual bath towel.

Silky Face Scrub from Turkey

This is to me the least exciting object in this box: a simple silk face scrub, made to wear on your fingers (except your thumb). It's not the sort of thing I'd personally use, but I'm sure a lot of people do so I can't really complain. And honestly, I liked the rest of the things so much that I don't really mind!

Body Lotion and Black Soap from Togo

These products are made by the Togolese Alaffia, which works to alleviate poverty in rural Africa. The company provides bikes for school children, funds births, plants threes and does a number of other community-building, poverty-fighting activities. The African black soap is a shea butter soap scented with lemongrass and citrus. I haven't tried it yet, but it smells divine! The body lotion is shea and red palm, and its scented with mango and citrus. It has a lovely smell, sweet but not too powerful. It's soothing and is absorbed quick by the skin without feeling fatty or sticky. I love it! Both products are also fair trade certified.

Hand Towel from Turkey

The second towel in the box was a hand towel, and came in a gorgeous, vibrant shade of blue. I absolutely adore the color, which is a littler lighter than the image lets on. The weave is smooth on one side and more like terrycloth on the other, and its made of cotton. It's also quite large for a hand towel, almost 80 cms long and about 45 cams wide, which I think is great because often they are a bit too small for my tastes. I think I actually like this one more than the other towel, though I do really like them both!

Overall Impression

This has been my second favourite box so far, second only to the Bedroom Box. Apart from the silk scrubber which isn't very useful to me, all the items in this box were great. Practical but beautiful, of high quality and gorgeous, vibrant colors! What more could I possibly want?
