Fun Kitchen Appliance Gift Ideas
A Kitchen Appliance as a Gift?
I know what you are already thinking: a kitchen appliance as a gift idea? I am sure you believe I have lost my mind. There was a time when giving a kitchen appliance as a gift seemed like a major faux pas. People want a fun gift! Whatever happened to jewelry, or DVDs, or a flat screen TV? Well, I can tell you want happened - the recession.
It seems like people are more interested in practical gifts now than ever before. As far as practical gifts go, a kitchen appliance is a great choice. I am not talking about going out and buying someone a new refrigerator. Certainly if they need a fridge and you can afford it, it's a perfect gift. However, you do not have to spend a lot of money to get someone a practical and cute kitchen appliance.
Kitchen appliances make great presents year-round. If you can't decide what to get for a friend's birthday, maybe they'd like a new toaster oven. If you can't figure out what your parents would like for Christmas this year, perhaps they would enjoy a crockpot. You've got plenty of gift-giving options for everyone.
Coffee Makers
A Coffee Maker
Coffee makers used to be such a boring kitchen appliance. This is no longer the case. Not only can you get coffee makers in a number of different colors, you can also pick from many different types. You can even get your loved ones an espresso maker or a cappuccino maker or both. Coffee makers also come in all shapes and sizes.
Coffee makers are certainly a great gift for friends that once enjoyed a $5 cup of coffee each day, but had to stop treating themselves due to their budget. Even better, throw in some coffee into the gift bag with the coffee maker, and you've got the perfect gift!
The Crockpot Comeback
Recently, the crockpot or the slow cooker has made quite a comeback. The crockpot is the perfect kitchen appliance for those on a tight budget trying to save time. The crockpot can take a tough (low-priced) piece of meat and make it tender. You can add some roast beef to the crockpot as you leave for work and then come home to a hot meal. It is perfect for families on the go. There are a number of tasty recipes available online, so you do not even need to buy a cookbook. It is a very practical gift and quite inexpensive. Once again, there are a number of adorable, colorful crockpots on the market today.
The Toaster Oven and the Microwave Oven
The toaster oven and the microwave oven are two classics as far as kitchen appliance gift ideas go. What is important is to determine if a person needs a new toaster oven or microwave oven. Most people already have microwaves, but it is the perfect gift for some moving out on their own for the first time. Believe it or not, not everyone has a toaster oven! Gasp! I know I personally could not live without mine.
If you are looking for a great basic gift for a friend, a family member, a co-worker, or a Secret Santa gift, the toaster oven might just be your best bet. They come in many shapes, sizes, and colors. I highly recommend purchasing a toaster oven that is a reasonable size and bakes like a regular oven. It is the perfect gift for someone that does not feel like running their regular stove, but still wishes to bake their meals.
The Blender
Since everyone is going low-budget now it makes sense that folks are not going out to the bar as much. Even if they are going to the bar, they can't afford to order all the fun mixed drinks that used to enjoy. What is the perfect gift for someone that loves mixed drinks? A blender.
Maybe your friend is not a drinker, but she really loves smoothies. Smoothies are certainly not too cheap to buy at restaurants. They can be as expensive as coffee. What is a great present for a person that loves smoothies? A blender.
A blender can be a really fun kitchen appliance. It has a number of uses. You can make everything from homemade slurpees to smoothies. Whether you and your friends want to add the alcohol or not is totally up to you.
The Rice Cooker / Food Steamer
I thought I was done writing about awesome, adorable kitchen appliances until my friend said this hub would not be complete without a rice cooker or food steamer. She says these are all the rage right now and it must be included. Well, who am I to argue?
Apparently, rice cookers are gaining some popularity as the perfect kitchen appliance gift. Not only do they sell at a low price, but they are quite helpful in the kitchen. Rice cookers can cook a bunch of rice, and many rice cookers can also steam meats and vegetables at the same time. Looks like these appliances are kind of like a helpful cousin to the crockpot.
Kitchen Appliance Gift Giving is Fun!
As you can see, giving a kitchen appliance as a gift can be fun. Kitchen appliances are available in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes now, which makes them a much more exciting gift than they once were. Also, in these difficult economic times, people are much happier to receive practical, helpful gifts. If the present is really adorable, that makes it even better. So the next time you are having a tough time deciding on a Christmas or birthday gift, do not rule out a small kitchen appliance. It might be more appreciated than you think.
