Laundry Room Decor

Updated on June 10, 2013

It's been a few years ago now, but I and my cousin, Pam used to create handmade crafts to sell at a local consignment Arts and Crafts Mall. We did pretty well at it. The hottest items we had were decorations for the Laundry Room. It seems this is the one room that interior decorators seem to forget about.

The Laundry Room can be a fun room to decorate simply because it's usually pretty small and a little goes a long way. I hope to give you a few ideas so that you can transform your ordinary utility room into an eye-catching room. If you're like me, your backdoor comes through your laundry room so that all your family sees that room first. Your family will be amazed at how cute you can make your laundry room.

Laundry Room Decorating Ideas

Some of the cutest laundry room decorations incorporate an old-fashioned clothesline, antique irons or laundry baskets. I have seen all sorts of wallpaper and wallpaper borders designed specifically for the laundry room.

They make all sorts of signs for the laundry room with little catchy phrases like:

  • She Who Does the Laundry Keeps the Change
  • Drop Your Pants Here
  • Laundry Makes me a Basket Case
  • It'll All Come Out in the Wash
  • The Laundry Room-Where We Have Loads of Fun

Personally, I went with antique irons when decorating my laundry room. I have probably twenty irons of various sizes and ages displayed on a shelf above my washer and dryer.

I've seen some really unique switch plate covers for the laundry room. Most of them incorporate a replica of a washer and dryer or a clothes line.

There are some really cute vinyl wall appliques for the laundry room.

You can display old wooden washboards, clothespins, clothes hangers, laundry baskets and miniature doll clothes on clotheslines.

Other Themes You Can Still Use in a Laundry Room

Other common themes can also be used in the laundry room just like any other room in the house. Those include:

  • Nautical theme
  • Country theme
  • Americana theme
  • Log Cabin theme
  • Modern theme
  • Texas Star theme
  • Southwestern theme-Indians, Aztecs,etc.
  • Cowboy Western theme
  • Paisley theme
  • Safari or Exotic theme
  • Old World theme
  • Victorian theme
  • Tuscan theme

Thanks angelaglancy! I like that they are smaller spaces and it doesn't take much to fix them up.

A decorated laundry room makes it a little more pleasant to enter, doesn't it? In the past, I've used the laundry room for things that didn't fit anywhere else but I liked and wanted to see.
