The Makita BTD142HW 18V is a Compact Cordless Impact Driver and Drill Kit The driver, weighs only 2.8 lbs and measures 5-3/4" long. This compact cordless driver's motor delivers 1,280 in. lbs. of efficient torque, surprising for such a compact size.

It does an impressive job of driving screws of all types and sizes. This tool has enough oompf to drive a 3" drywall screw right through a couple of 2x4's, drive a 1" spade bit through most any lumber and if you need to bury screw heads so the surface is flush, you can do it with ease, without striping the threads. The Makita BTD 142HW is also fantastic at backing out old screws.

Impact Drivers spin at higher speeds than even the fastest drill/drivers, driving screws much more quickly. Then, when the drivers sense resistance, they automatically switch to impact mode.

Fast Charging

You sacrifice a bit of run time between charges, but I have found that a charge lasts all day. It's a good idea to have an extra battery always charged and ready. However, if I forget to have a back up ready and need a charge, the 1.5 ah charges in only 15 minutes, so this isn't much of a problem for me.

Makita Lithium-Ion battery provides longer run time, 5x lower self-discharge (for use any time) & 16 firm holding contact terminals (for constant high power). The 15-minute Rapid Optimum Charger and battery communicates throughout the charging process using the built-in chip in the battery and built-in CPU chip in the charger.

The Charger also uses "Active 3 Control" for current control, thermal control & voltage control. The battery charger has a fan to control battery temperature during charge up. Be aware that if you leave the battery in the charger, the fan will continue to run even after the charge is complete.

Ergonomic and Back Saving

The Makita impact driver- BTD142HW does not require a lot of pressure from the operator, which is better for the back. Because this is an an impact driver, it does not have that kickback you normally get when using a drill/driver. Everyone raves about the ergonomic design which fits into most hands as if it was made for that hand specifically.

Buy a Makita Compact Cordless Impact Driver, you won't be disappointed.
