Rada Cutlery Made In The USA Review

Made with Pride in the USA

Made in the USA doesn't have to mean expensive

There has been a lot of talk of late about the lack of products being made in the United States of America. Made in the USA is a mantra that seems to be growing. However, a lot of people, myself included, seem to be frustrated with not being able to find true Made in the USA products that we can actually use.

One area of the house that seems to be lacking in Made in the USA is in the kitchen. We think we are getting a good American product because its “made” by a very USA based American company. But when we buy the product, open the package we notice the tag “made in (fill in any nation but the US or Canada) and we think we have been had.

The other frustration that people have had is that it seems the price of Made in the USA products are far higher than products made elsewhere in the world. Well I can tell you this just is not so. Americans make affordable, durable, solid products and best of all (besides being made here in the USA) is that its is often much easier to get that product serviced should you need to.

More Joy in the Kitchen

I have tried and/or bought a number of kitchen items made here and elsewhere in the world and often the “cheaper” priced kitchen products are as good if not better, than the higher priced product. And it should come as no surprise that these less expensive American Made products are among the excellent ones to be had.

This is true with a set of kitchen knives I have used then purchased. And I have to tell you they are wonderful, durable, strong and do the job they are designed to do. A good and proper knife makes a huge difference not only for the experienced or professional cook, but also for those of us who just like to make dinner at home.

A well made kitchen knife makes the preparing and cooking of food at home that much more enjoyable, even for those who really don't like to cook.

Rada 7 Piece Starter Set is perfect for Beginner or Pro

The set I am talking about here is the Rada Cutlery Starter Set, 7 Piece Set. This set provides a well-rounded kitchen cutlery starter set. Includes: Regular Paring, Veg. Peeler, Tomato Slicer, Super Parer, 6" Bread Slicer, Cook's Knife and Slicer.

Rada is made right here in the USA. They manufacture this knife set in the great state of Iowa, to be exact. Rada Mfg. Company is located in Waverly, IO and has been making its all steel, all metal cutlery since 1948 and now employs some 120 people.

According to Rada, its cutlery is made from American mined and processed surgical quality, T420 high carbon stainless steel. That is the professional cooking industry standard for high quality cutlery and knife sets.

Rada cutlery is cast with a permanent solid satin finish aluminum handle which creates a well balanced feel good in your hand comfort that is superior to many other more expensive utensils. The blades are hollow ground which ensures a precision concave surface for “maximum edge retention and sharpness.” That means these blades are very sharp and they stay sharp for a very long time.

Light and Solid

Even though this cutlery is very light due to its aluminum content, it still has excellent balance in your hand. These knives help me feel like I'm a pro in the kitchen when it comes to meal prep and meal serving.

This particular set also comes in an attractive gift box that you can store the set in or use to give away as a gift. (Yes, I will be giving this set as wedding, housewarming and Christmas gifts this year.)

And each Rada knife comes with a Lifetime Guarantee. And Rada has great customer service. In fact a reprsentative told me that if I were so inclined to visit Iowa and I had a defective cutlery item made by them, they would repair or replace right there on the spot. How is that for standing behind your product.

Rada is a great investment

What I found even more amazing once I had these knives in my hand is that they are a set of very well crafted, durable and professional knives for such a low price point. You can go to one of the big box stores and buy a set at this same price point but you will be buying a new set within a few years. I know because I have purchased these lesser quality sets and most of them are not made in the USA. Rada is both high quality and made in the USA.

The set I have is the Rada Cutlery Starter Set, 7 Pc Boxed Gift Set, (S38). I do plan on replacing all of my kitchen cutlery with Rada in the near future. The greatest benefit to me is that Rada is still 100% made in America with 100% American sourced raw materials. So if you are like me and try to buy American Made every chance you get, then this is the right cutlery for you. And you don't need to go to a "cooking party" to get it.
