   How do you instill productive, positive habits in order to replace the negative ones?
   
   When cleaning your house, do you find it easy or difficult? What makes it so hard? What makes it so easy? What are your helpful tricks and tips? What are your biggest struggles? Do you love to do laundry? or do you hate it? Do you like to organize? Or do you find it overwhelming? On a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the most disgusting...how would you rate the cleanliness of your home?

   It depends my house cleaning ranges from a 2 to a 6, depending on how many grandchildren I am watching that day, I truly hate laundry, but my way to get through it is; the second it comes out of the dryer I finish it up. I don't just set it off to the side, I've found I leave it where ever I set it for weeks or until I dirty those clothes again. I usually find cleaning house is easy, it is the keeping it clean which is difficult. I have four grandchildren that are in my home at any given time, picking up with them and after them is what takes up a lot of my time. I love them dearly and wouldn't have it any other way. I like to organize and be organized. I move my furniture on a regular basis, I do not like finding things six months after they have been lost or misplaced that drives me crazy. I find cleaning my home early each morning is usually the best time for me, if I wait until later I don't have the time or the energy to get everything done which also is a pet peeve of mine. My biggest struggle right now is keeping everything in it's place because three of my grandchildren love to reorganize my things while I'm in another part of the house.

   I think you could look at this behavior analytically and apply a behavioral relapse prevention approach to the task avoidance behaviors. Also check out activation therapy...odd to mention depression and substance abuse treatment strategies here, but I think they are directly applicable.
