    Strawberries molded and soft

    I went out to look at my strawberries tonight and found a surprise. They have just exploded this year, very tall and loaded every single plant. Some are starting to ripen but tonight I found a lot that were moldy and mushy. Any clue to what might be going on from anyone? I think it may be from so much rain the last several days. Would that be a good assumption?

    Unfortunately, what you describe is often a sign of a fungal infection. Specifically, of Botrytis cinerea, which makes your strawberries look fuzzy and gray.

    The spores are almost always present. The fungus activates in damp weather, especially if it is has been cool for a few days.

    looks just like picture in the link, We have had over a week of rain and very little sun, plus it has gone from mid 80's to 55-60 and wet. need a few god hot sunny days!!!
