Can placing ladybugs in your vegetable garden actually control destructive insects?
I have a nasty tiny yellow hairy larvae eating my string bean plant leaves. I have not been able to identify the little monster through internet searches. I am worndering if ladybugs would keep them uner control?
Hello and sorry to hear your troubles with the insects. Placing ladybugs on your vegetable garden will never hurt your plants. Lady bugs are predatory insects with quite a large appetite. If your beans are being eaten by spider mites or aphids, Lady bugs are definitely a good solution. It sounds to me though that you are suffering from Potato Beetles... Good luck getting rid of the nasty buggers.
Ladybugs eat all kind of awful garden pests. Not just aphids, but also cinch bugs, asparagus beetle larvae, thrips, Colorado potato beetle, whitefly, and mites. All pests. Set the table for the Ladies!
