    A tankless water heater costs about  three times as much as a comparable standard water heater, also the installation is about twice as costly, and you have to have enough gas coming in because  while a normal heater is about 40 000 BTU a tankless is  ABOUT 160 000 BTU SO YOU MAY NEED BIGGER GAS LINES AND GAS METER.over the course of several years a tankless heater may save you some money , it is specially worth a look if it's a high efficiency unit and you can get some government subsidy,  and as long as you don't plan to fill your jacuzzi at the same time as the washer is running it should be able to keep up, but in some circumstances  the performance of a standard heater is superior.the cost of purchasing and installing a regular  50 gal heater is about 1200 dollars and the equivalent tankless would set you back between 3 and 4 thousand.

    At HomeDepot the cost for a tankless water heater price range from $160 to about $1,400.  That price does not include the installation.
