What is the best and safest way to get rid of moths in your home?

We have moths who've decided to move into our home.  They mainly hang out in my girls' room, but I've noticed they're spreading.  I took a sweater out of my closet yesterday and noticed the unmistakable moth hole.  I don't want to use moth balls because I know they are toxic.  Are there any natural techniques that work?  I read they don't like lavender or cedar... anyone tried these?

Lavender sachets are safe help and they smell soooo much better than toxic moth balls.  As well, herbs like rosemary and even basil help, too.

You can grow your own lavender--remember that with this herb you don't have to have just the flowers but that the stems and leaves are just as fragrant. For about $10 you could buy enough lavender buds to make sachets for your home.  I just made 2" x 3" ones for closets and drawers.  Every time I open a closet door I crush the sachet just so I can enjoy the perfume that moths hate.  smile

Cedar does not seem to last long--lavender is long-lasting.
