    Spray foam Insulation

I am considering having insulation foam sprayed into the exterior walls of my home for greater R Value before I redo the siding on the home.  Has anyone has any experience with this on an existing structure ??? Is it as effective as advertised ??? Any positive or negative feedback from personal experience is appreciated.

I had it done on a wall when replaced siding.  So we had all of the exterior wall off.  Seems good although when the weather gets cold I always hear a lot "pop" as the wood contracts and a small gap must form between wood and insulation.  I like the idea of a "solid" barrier to insects and mice.  Although they could chew through it if they wanted.  Its also a vapor barrier.

They do it now by drilling a hole in the exterior wall I believe.  I am jsut not sure if it is worth it. I have R19 now.  But no Vapor Barrier.  I think is will be about 10-12k for the whole house.
