When you are doing a home remodel, do you prefer the DIY method or would you hire a contractor?

When doing home remodeling, do you prefer the DIY method or would you hire a contractor if you had to remodel a bathroom or kitchen remodeling?

If possible, we do it ourselves.  Many things can play into that, but working with even recommended contractors can be a big headache.  If we do it ourselves we can control every aspect of the job.  However, the big question that comes up is, "Can we do the job ourselves."  It's not always possible, but we're willing to learn to do something new if it means we can do the job ourselves.

We would love to DIY, but right now we are using contractors. We are not as young as we once were. Also, technology has progressed so much that there are more economical and faster ways to do the work. My Dad built his own house, brick by brick, and he did a great job - but it is hard to let go of a house you put your heart and soul into.

In most cases contractor bid estimates are FREE ,if you are a NOVICE IT WOULD SEEM that talking to contractors ( licensed contractors ) should be your first contact. They can give you ideas and help provide a budget Suggest you visit tile suppliers, check material price difference for you to choose from. Suppliers can offer you a list of contractors If you get proposals quotes/contracts. Carefully read the contract before you sign Base your pick on  past references , materials and price. To save money buy the material seperately only, all other labor material include in contract Set payment PLAN start 15% $$ partial pay 70%, final on completion15%  plan can be negotiated in contract  http://jon-ewall.hubpages.com/hub/Alter … esolutions  Success is in how you plan before proceeding  GOOD LUCK

Home is where the heart is and there is no better way to make a place feel yours, than doing the remodeling yourself. There are so many useful videos and articles on the net, there are few excuses to not do it yourself (save for health, or age).
