What is the most effective temporary fix for a leaking roof?
I am not asking for a permanent fix. I know my roof needs replacing. I am trying to figure out if tarping is the best quick temp fix or if there is another more effective fix.
It would really depend on the size and severity of the leak. A tarp to cover the roof is usually the quickest and easiest way to hold off on a repair. If it is a small enough leak that you can pinpoint, an alternative would be to get a can of liquid patch material from a hardware store. It can be applied with a trowel where the leak is.
I would think a large roll of black roofing material used for sheds and barns would work better than tarp. It's about $50/ roll and about 4 ft by 30ft so you can cover a large portion. It's not the felt roll its a roll that goes over that. Ask the store people. It's like shingle material but in a roll. Best wishes :-)
