We have a triple wide, with a spf snow load how can we reinforce the roof for a better snow load.
A few years ago we purchased and acre of land with a 1999 homette triple wide. We live in a high elevation, (2200 ft) snowy area. We currently have over four feet of snow on the ground. After over two feet was on the roof of our home we started looking into the snow load, and found out, to our amazement that it only had a 20psf snow load, when stick built homes in our area are required to have 140psf! We spoke with our county planning dept., and building inspectors, and have learned a lot about manufactured homes, HUD, and snow loads in the past four weeks. How can we increase our snow load
It's expensive to change the snow load rating. Construction of a new roof is one way. Another is to use metal roofing, then the snow slides off instead of building up. Your rating doesn't sound right. My shed has a better snow load. It sounds like it's built for places that don't get snow.
