Organized Bedroom Drawers in 30 Minutes!
Do your bedroom drawers resemble the drawer pictured here? That drawer belongs to me and it's been a mess since we moved back into our cottage after the summer renovation. You can see more about our cottage renovation here.
Fortunately for me, today in an online group challenge we were asked to create a new lens about organizing. This was the perfect opportunity to finally get my bedroom drawers organized.
This simple project was completed in 3 easy steps. I decided to time myself and see just how long this organizing task would take to complete. I was able to finish in just under 30 minutes which made me wonder why I waited so long.
What are YOU waiting for?
What's Hiding In Your Drawers?
It was unbelievable how much stuff I had crammed into each of the bedroom drawers. When we were preparing for the big home improvement job months ago, I literally shoved all kinds of stuff in every available space.
Under the clothes in this picture I found several vintage items that will soon be listed on Etsy. In addition I uncovered a "fools gold" rock from Las Vegas, portable travel scales that should have been packed with our suitcases, a neck exerciser which I was so excited about when I bought it last year, etc.

How Valuable Is Your Time?
If an organizing job is really big, do as I do and grab yourself a timer before you begin. Even working only 30 minutes at a time will soon result in completed tasks. There are no dials to break on this timer and it has excellent reviews.
First Step - Empty All Bedroom Drawers
This substantial pile contains the contents of my three personal bedroom drawers. What a mess! (I hate to show these BEFORE pictures online but the AFTER pictures make the embarrassment quickly forgotten.)

Second Step - Dust and Clean Inside Drawers
All I needed was a microfiber dusting cloth to wipe out the inside of each dresser drawer. While I was dusting I remembered to quickly wipe the cloth over the drawer rails and the front edge of each drawer.

An Inside Look
Microfiber cloths are invaluable for cleaning. I use them all over the house. They are also environmentally responsible.
You may wish to line the empty dresser drawers with contact paper for future cleanup. There are many stylish designs available.
