Today I Earned My First Penny

Updated on January 14, 2009

Today is a golden day for me. I should though actually restate that and say, today is a copper day for me. I earned myself my first penny thanks to

I have been a part of this site for a little over a week now, and honestly I didn't think I'd even earn a red cent.

Day after day I have been checking my google adsense earnings, and day after day I'd have a lot of decent clicks, but as far as earnings went, I always had a 0.00 balance.

Today though, I got my first penny. Now if I can earn a penny every week, I'll be up 4 cents a month. I figure though the more content I put out there, the better my chances will be for earning 2 cents a week.

For some earning a penny in one week is a waste of time, but for me, my goal is to try and get it up to at least $1 a day by the end of April. It's wishful thinking but not untouchable. hehe.

Anyhow, google won't let me cash out on my cent yet, but I still like looking at it in there. In fact, I looked at it twice today. When I'm finished with this piece, I'm going to look at it again.

Try not to be jealous everyone, of my penny that is. I cannot buy much with it, but still the penny brought me some pride, so it's all good in my book.

I know that some of us wouldn't even bend over for a penny on the sidewalk, but there is something so much more magical about a penny when it's tallied up in an online account. haha.

Anyhow, that's all I got going on for today. It took me a few days, but low and behold I earned me some money.

Congrats - I save my pennies and use them to pay my personal property taxes. Nothing like a few socks (yes, I carry them in a few pairs of big black socks - they hate that).

That tax alone should be worth a new hub... hmmm

I've never even checked the adsense account.  In fact, do I even have that?  Laugh!

Funny piece, MellasViews, thanks for the chuckles!

Thanks for the offer, Mella, but I'm still short by over a dollar. I think I need to write something more product driven, but I keep getting drawn back to art, and other more 'niche', but totally revenue free subjects(LOL). I think you have to be quite focussed to make any serious money here, but it's a lot of fun, and there's some great people on the hubs.

Good for your mella! As for me I stop myself from going to my adsense account to allow for a surprise - but alas, the flesh is willing but the spirit is week! So I always end up checking every two days or so! Good news is, I'm earning - though not something I can brag about but yep i've got me some money for doing something I really really like :D

and don't forget there is a special message to everyone on a penny.

Everytime I see a penny I pick it up just to read the message. Of course then the penny goes in my change box which gets chashed in at the end of the year. Sometimes I have three or four hundred dollars worth.

There is something magical about that first earning from HubPages. I don't care if it's 1 cent or even TWENTY cents, it's equally exciting.

I have to say, though, it's even MORE exciting when you make your first dime from your Amazon affiliate!
