How To Get Freebies on All Kinds of Things

In a struggling economy, it begins to feel like a never-ending battle trying to keep up let alone get ahead.

As gas prices soar into the stratosphere again, you begin to wonder if it's even possible to think about breaking even somewhere.

Wouldn't it be nice to get freebies all the time? Just because? It would help offset rising prices and anxiety about the economy or at the very least, it might make us feel a little bit better about being gouged at the pump among other places!

Well, I'm here to tell you - there are a bunch of places that you can save big bucks but there are also some places you can get the real deal - freebies!

Let's check out what you can get today for absolutely free!

Freebies You Can Get Well.....For Free!

  • Room at the inn. Free lodging for travelers. CouchSurfing.org is a nonprofit organization with more than a half million people around the world who let you sleep on their couch (or spare bedroom) while you're traveling - for free! You can meet people and see the world for free! Check out the website for more information and see if it's something you might be willing to do to save money.
  • Free money. The National Association of Unclaimed Property (NAUPA) is also a nonprofit organization where you can find money which might be due you or your family. This comes in the forms of utility refunds, forgotten bank accounts, security deposits or inheritances but you never know. NAUPA estimates that 1 out of 8 Americans is entitled to something that is unclaimed and that's just waiting for them to find. Go to unclaimed.org and see if you're one of the lucky ones! Also check out TreasuryHut.gov for savings bonds which are unclaimed. You never know!
  • Put on your birthday suit. Well, actually leave your clothes on - but it's your birthday! Many freebies are available to everyone on their birthday. You can get free meals or free gifts or free entertainment. Check out this list......(and it's not by a long shot all inclusive) Try here for more info! (Frugal Living Free Stuff)

Cool idea, Steph - I will have to start trying that around my birthday - but in my case, I'll probably shave off about 10 years!

Great hub - don't forget "free" lunch at Costco! We cruise the aisles eating everything that is offered at the sample stations. :)

My birthday is right before Christmas, so I am usually in the shopping malls. I mention that its my birthday to everyone - the barista at Starbucks, the person printing out my digital photos, etc. I often get a freebie tossed my way for persistence.

      Another great hub!
