Now I know how about.com's writers earn money. You need to be a very good writer. I'm still practicing to be a good writer, so hubpages is better.

It would be nice to be accepted, but their checklist counted me out. It does sound like a great opportunity, so well done to those who make it.

Hi Susan S about needs professional as noted by Marisa Wright otherwise you do not stand a chance to make money or get approved

I applied to about.com many months back and never heard back from them which was disappointing. For those that get accepted it's definitely a nice way to earn a regular income from writing.

Thanks Marisa Wright for pointing out this, I highly appreciate and hope others will take note

Oderog I think you're missing the point Research Analyst and I are making - if you check each of the available topics on About.com, you'll see most of them require you to have an academic qualification in the subject, or be a journalist, before they will even look at you.

I think that would be worth mentioning in your Hub so people don't waste their time applying without the right qualifications.

You are right, at About.com you have to be an experienced writer for you to get accepted, and one has to go for about 4 weeks training during which you can be rejected or accepted

    • Research Analyst profile image

      Research Analyst 8 years ago

They require experts who are very familiar in the topics they write about, plus about.com has a list of specific subjects that they want covered, most those who apply have several years experience as well as college degrees, certifications and prior reference work on other sites and publications.

Marisa Wright you are right actually at about you will go through some serious training before get involved with them

The problem is, they have a restricted list of topics, and quite often they want people with qualifications in the field.
