How To Save Money Within Your Household This New Year

Updated on December 19, 2018

It is so important to try to save has much money as you can this new year, and I have found some good ways that everyone can put more money in their bank accounts. Many are not hard to do and will save you more money monthly and yearly. It takes a little willpower and a little effort to do some or all of the things to save your household some money.

Cigarettes

Now would be a good time for you or a family member to quit smoking, with the price of cigarettes at eight or nine dollars a pack think of all the money you could save by kicking the habit this year. And it will help you to feel better and be healthier, all good reasons to quit.

Coffee

I know many people like to or need to have their cup or cups of coffee in the morning I am one of them, but why pay Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts to do that. You can go and buy a big can of any store brand coffee for about $4.99 and brew your own and save a lot of money and stop make Dunkin' Donuts richer.

Light Bulbs

If you have not done so already now this new year would be a good time to change those old energy hog incandescent bulb to the new energy efficient light bulbs that not only last six times longer but use three times less energy than a incandescent bulb. It could save has much has $200.00 or more over the lifetime of the bulb if you change all the light bulbs in your home.

Cable

This new year you may want to consider canceling cable and stop spending hundreds of dollars a month. There are many sites you can watch your favorite TV shows for free or a small fee. On most TV shows sites you can watch full episodes for free and many sites like Hulu which will let you watch TV shows plus movies and documentaries for free or for a fee of only $7.99 a month if you get Hulu plus, you will get more shows and movies.

Phones

You could think about canceling your landline phone and get one of those cheap cell phones or you may be able to get a lifeline cell phone the offers free cell phone services

TV

The TV is one of the electricity hogs that live in your home, only being second to your refrigerator. But you need to leave your refrigerator on all the time, but not you’re TV. Some people I know have their TV on almost 24/7 and wonder why their electric bill is so high. But by turning off that TV it’s a great way to save money, if you’re not watching it turn it off.

Computers

Computers to can use a lot of electricity and if you shut it off after you use it that is good. But what I found is that everything you have plugged into your surge protector is still using power, and the two biggest one that use the most are a printers and scanners. And if their plugs have a light on them they use the most power, so you need to also turn off your surge protector has well.

Here are just a few ways that you can save money within your homes, and I am sure that you could think of many more ways that you could save more money per month in your home.A little money saved here and there within your household will in a year make a big differences in the money you save throughout the year .
