Millionaires and Unemployment

Updated on October 03, 2012

Strange. One would not think that a person who is a millionaire would get, or even qualify, to receive unemployment. The maximum amount is $450 a week. Yet, that is what is going on. A recent study showed that 2400 people, all millionaires, did receive the maximum amount in unemployment. In America, there are 11 million millionaires. Out of the 2400, 18 had reported a gross income of $10 million a year and were receiving $12000 in unemployment benefits. Another 74 earned between $5-8 million dollars. The remaining were just millionaires earning about $11000 in unemployment payments.

Because of the report, government officials are considering eliminating all benefits for any other who has earnings of one million or more. This alone would save $20 million. What is there to think about? Isn't this a perfect "duh"? Unbelievable.

This renders me speechless and I agree, a perfect, "DUH." Come on people, that is crazy. Especially when some voluntarily quit, and don't qualify for benefits because they are too ill to return to that same kind of work. Please....Great hub, thanks.
